We are pleased to announce that LBL Skills have recently been approved as a Learning Centre by the Chartered Institute of Housing.
As household formation continues to significantly outpace housing provision, a pattern that has been consistent throughout the 21st century. In Britain, its estimated that over 5 million properties are owned by Housing Associations and Local Authorities. This inevitably requires a significant amount of skilful management.
There is no doubt that both Housing Associations and Councils recognise this fact and the last two decades have seen many Providers move toward encouraging their staff to consider professional housing qualifications. Changes in legislation and the parameters of what is recognised as housing need has necessitated even greater skill when managing homes and catering for the needs of the families who live in them. With that in mind professional qualifications can be suited to those new to Housing or even those with considerable experience who want to build upon their existing skills in a way that ensures they are more effective in their current roles. Of course, some organisations may be concerned about losing upskilled staff to other employers. However, if they are treated well enough in the current roles they are less likely to leave an employer who continues to invest in them.
The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) provides accredited training through approved learning centres such as LBL Skills from Level 2 upward. This training, which can often be delivered in the workplace, provides learners with a basic understanding through to a detailed knowledge of Housing including Customer Service, Income Management, Tenure and Lettings, Repairs and Maintenance, Sustaining Communities and more. Depending on the level you choose, the course may take as little as 5 months and will always encompass tutor support and additional online learning resources.
