Universal Credit (UC) is the most controversial and expensive of all the Welfare Reform measures. Even though the implementation is taking longer than planned, the Government is committed to pressing ahead with the national rollout of UC, with new local authority areas are ‘going live’ for UC claims on a rolling basis, with all Jobcentre Plus offices being enabled to take UC claims by April 2016.
This 2.5 hour briefing session will provide essential awareness of all the latest UC developments within a local context. It is aimed at staff who need a reasonable awareness of the terminology and principles of Universal Credit in order to converse with customers, and provide reassurance and signposting.
- Be aware of Universal Credit’s key principles and eligibility criteria
- Be aware of the latest issues affecting UC, the likely rollout plans, and the impact on local provision and services
- Be able to talk to clients and customers about how UC will affect them, the best ways to prepare and the likely protection for vulnerable people
- Identify helpful internet resources and share them with clients
All courses use various methods of engagement including Presentations, Q and A, Case studies, Group discussions, Short Films and Course hand-outs.
